Cartridge Thermostat
The basic element of all thermostat controls, all the desirable features of the ideal thermostat – high sensitivity, wide adjustment range, small sized, rugged construction, vibration resistant, and low cost are included in this thermostat control. This unit may be inserted in a 15.875mm (5/8") reamed hole. If a reamed hole is used; a short spline should be added this prevents the thermostat from turning when the temperature adjusting sleeve.

A dial and knob may be added to applicable units. Graduations on dial are marked from '1' to '7' for adjustment to higher or lower temperature. When ordering specify desired temperatue pointer will be set on No.4 dial position.

Protective Well For Liquid Insertions
The use of Protective well is recommended for:
- When the removal of a hex or coupling head thermostat unit would require draining of the container in which it is inserted.Use of a well assembly permits removal of a thermostat unit at any time without other disturbance.
- When surrounding ambients are subject to extreme changes thus affecting thermostat unit.The well makes it possible to insert the thermostat completely into the medium being controlled,thereby eliminating these embient temperature effects or "head effect".
- For protections of the thermostat unit from external forces or blows which would tend to affect its operation.
- When fluids have a corrosive action on the shell of the thermostat unit.

Operating Principles of Cartridge Thermostat
These S.S. Son Thermostats are strut and tube type thermostats comprised of two basic parts (1) the outer shell made of high expanding metal and (2) the strut assembly made of low expanding metal A pair of electrical contacts is mounted on the strut assembly and installed in the shell under tension or compression' Because each end of the strut assembly is mechanically connected to the ends of the shell, a net change in force is produced on the low-expansion strut assembly as the high expanding shell expands or contracts with changing temperature. The temperature at which the contact’s make is considerably better than that obtainable from other types of Thermostat, such as the snapacting type. Low load switching differentials of less than 0.1 C are achieved.
